The Legend of Sea Butterfly

The Legend of Sea Butterfly

Sea Butterfly emerges from a pearly shell deep in the ocean, unfurling her wings slowly upwards towards the sun. Many fathoms below the surface, the shell lies dormant for eons. A tremor in the earth’s crust finally shifts the sands to reveal her home.

Her body is a cosmic body, a tiny fragile filamentous structure of minute sensations that is also an ordering of the flow of the world. She contains the universe in her mysterious folds.

As her body stretches out across the ocean, it spreads shimmering colour and light.
The red, hot desert burns next to the sea, the Milky Way drifts overhead.

They are caught in her translucent milky body.
She is an ancient folk tale, slowly growing longer and constantly shifting form, before turning back on her self and returning to the deep.

Fisherman out at sea have looked down and seen her eye far below them, shining.
